Prosecute Justin DiPietro for the Child Abuse of Ayla Reynolds

The Issue

May 7, 2014

During the weeks just prior to the fateful day that 20 month old Ayla Reynolds was reported missing, she had suffered many injuries consistent with child abuse. We are calling upon Attorney General Janet Mills, Deputy Attorney General William Stokes and District Attorney Meghan Maloney to file charges against her father, Justin DiPiero for child abuse unrelated to Ayla's disappearance and presumed death.

About Mid-September - Justin took Ayla to Chuck E. Cheese and she was returned with black and blue bruises the right side of her face and ear, photographs were taken.  Justin said that he had put her in the "Ball Pit" and she got into a fight with two little boys.  The pictures clearly tell a different story.  The handprint sized bruising was of an Adult hand and not a child's.  A spokesman from Chuck E. Cheese said that they have not had a "Ball Pit" since 2001.

About the end of September - Justin took Ayla on a Thursday and brought her back Friday. Later that evening, her maternal grandmother noticed that she could not walk without difficulty and after a few days she was not getting any better, favoring her left foot as she walked. Trista asked Justin what had happen and he said they were," horsing around". The subsequent visit to the doctor found it to be a Pulled Leg Muscle consistent with a rough diaper change... and it took three weeks before she could walk normally again.

November 5th 2011 - Justin calls Trista and says that they (he and his mom) were getting ready to take Ayla to The Emergency Room. When asked why, Justin told Trista that he was coming home from shopping the day before and had "fallen up the stairs" on Ayla while carrying her and a bag of groceries. Later it was reported that Ayla's Left arm was broken and had been put into a splint and ace bandage. Fractured Distal Humerus.  A broken arm, depending on the nature of the break, may or may not be consistent with the explanation for it. For example, a spiral fracture is almost always caused by a parent twisting the arm and cannot be cause by a parent falling on it.  A dislocation fracture is caused by pulling, not falling.

Justin told the doctor his wrist was already injured.  Carrying Ayla and Groceries with the injury caused him to be unbalanced.  His mother Phoebe, however, told the media that he injured himself during the fall.  Which one is it?  Were his injuries documented?  Justin also stated that it was raining outside that night...later it was discovered that it had not been raining.  Did it happen the way he said?  The injuries Ayla sustained are not consistent with his account of events.

All these injuries are documented in Ayla's medical records. Medical abuse experts can examine these records and conclude whether or not these injuries were "inflicted". Experts will compare the injuries with Justin's explanation and prove the injuries could not have happened in the manner Justin described.

In addition to repeated injuries while in the care of her father, follow up doctor’s appointments for her arm and several regular check-ups were missed.

The abuse continued and turned to be fatal. On December 17th, 2011 she was reported missing from her father's home. During the search of his home there was more than a cupful of her blood found throughout the house mainly in the father's bedroom. She has been presumed dead by the Maine State Police Department.

Please help us get justice for 20 month old Ayla Reynolds no child should ever have to suffer the abuse she did prior to her death. This cannot go unpunished.

Sign our petition to demand Janet Mills, William Stokes and Meghan Mahoney hold Justin DiPietro be held accountable for his crimes against Ayla Reynolds prior to her disappearance and death.
