Maintaining Lindfield Learning Village’s Educational Model

Maintaining Lindfield Learning Village’s Educational Model
The issue
Hi, our names are Aneeqa and Amelia, and as students at Lindfield Learning Village, many of us are experiencing a sense of concern and unease regarding our school's future. Ever since 2019, when Lindfield Learning Village was first opened, our contemporary, innovative education model has been instrumental in shaping us, nurturing our abilities, and preparing us to face the world ahead. Like many students who’ve come from other schools, we appreciate the high quality and relevance of this educational model.
Recently, there have been changes to our leadership roles. A few months ago, our previous principal Stephanie McConnell was suddenly removed from the school by the Department of Education, alongside our school deputies, Lou Deibe and Mark Burgess. Their sudden absence meant that none of us (students and teachers) were able to wish them goodbye or even thank them for what they had done. Without them, we are anxious about the stability and preservation of our school's educational model.
In response to this, we sent an email to Prue Car, The Deputy Premier of NSW about offering our school some transparency as to why Stephanie, Mark, and Lou had to leave. We did not receive a response.
Additionally, we have observed further changes in our staff. Previously, Stephanie, Mark, and Lou were responsible for selecting teachers and staff who aligned with our school's educational approach. Reflecting on the past year, we have both achieved things that we didn't know we could do, all thanks to our amazing teachers. However, the Department of Education has now changed this rule, allowing any teacher to come and teach at LLV. While we welcome new staff to expand our community, our concern is that incoming teachers may not fully understand our unique education model, potentially compromising our learning environment.
Our school's educational model is highly successful, serving as the foundation for our learning and development. We believe it is crucial to preserve this model now and into the future. We urge the Department of Education NSW to support the school to develop a concrete plan to maintain our school's education model.
We ask for your support in preserving the essence of Lindfield Learning Village by signing this petition.
Thank you for standing with us for the sake of our education.
