Maintain Elementary School Attendance Zone for West Park Brambleton Community

The Issue

We are residents of the West Park at Brambleton community. We oppose this initiative for the reasons below and request to be excluded from rezoning:

Proximity and child well being – Our children are within 1 mile of Madison Trust. For the child’s wellness and mental health, it is not in the best interest of the child to commute to school every day for well over twenty minutes. The implications are less sleep, higher risk of stress and higher chance of missing school leading to higher absentee rates.

As concerned and invested stakeholders in the future of our children, we raise this petition with a deep sense of urgency. We have always prioritized our children's education and well-being, which has led us to value the current school assignments to invest in our new houses  as we want our children to attend Madison's Trust Elementary School

We now face a transition mandated by the Loudoun County School Board. The recent initiative to change the elementary school attendance zone will reassign students in the West Park Brambleton community (DN36.17 and DN36.18) from Madison's Trust Elementary School to Sycolin Creek Elementary School. This decision introduces a disruptive change to our children's lives, impacting their psychological and educational well-being.

As per the National Education Association, such zoning changes can stress students, negatively affecting their academic performance and social development. It is also crucial to consider the well being of our children to be in close proximity to the school which contribute significantly to the learning environment and can't be easily replaced.

Our children deserve stability in their education and should not bear the impact of excessive redistricting. We ask the School Board to give due consideration to our plea and explore alternative solutions that preserve the positive and effective learning environment at Madison's Trust Elementary School.

For all these reasons, we urge our fellow community members to add their voices to ours. Let's stand together as one community for the betterment of our children's education. Sign the petition and lend strength to our cause.
