Living in Mason, Ohio, I have been proud to call this beautiful community my home. However, the recent proposal to change zoning allowances has raised serious concerns for me and my neighbors. Currently, there is a mandated 100-foot distance between residential zones and manufacturing plants. This buffer provides a crucial barrier that protects our homes from the industrial noise, potential pollution, and other inconveniences associated with manufacturing activities.

The new zoning proposal suggests reducing this buffer to just 35 feet, moving the boundary against our residential property lines. This change poses a significant threat to the quality of life that we have cherished in Mason. Having a manufacturing plant so close could dramatically increase noise levels, disturb the peace of our neighborhoods, and potentially lead to a decrease in our property values.

A healthy separation between residential areas and manufacturing zones is essential not only for reducing noise and preserving peace but also for maintaining the safety and health of our community members. The close proximity of industrial activities can expose residents to various hazards and diminish the environmental quality of our neighborhoods.

By maintaining the current 100-foot residential buffer, Mason can continue to grow and thrive while ensuring the safety and happiness of its residents.
