Honourable Members of the Assembly,

We request your kind help to expedite the Detailed Project Review (DPR) process and initiate the metro line between Swargate-Khadakwasla-Sinhagad asap. The metro line will

• Provide an economic boost, as Tourists can quickly and easily travel between some of the attractions namely
  • Mahalakshmi Temple
  • Saras Baug
  • Peshwa Museum
  • Kadakwasla Dam
  • Sinhagad Fort
  • Improved connectivity to see other Pune attractions including Shaniwar Wada and Shreemant Dagdusheth Halwai Ganpati Mandir.
• Boost the development of IT Park near Nanded City. It will
  • Generate more local employment
  • Distribute IT employee traffic and thereby reduce pockets of congestion within Pune
• Reduce Traffic. Traffic on  Sinhagad road is a nightmare [shown in the picture above]. It can take more than an hour to reach Swargate from Dhayari Phata, Sinhgad road. The new line will reduce traffic considerably
• Encourage people in the area to use public transport which will bring health and environment benefits
• Reduce Air Pollution

We feel the area in the latter half of Sinhagad road is neglected, and no substantial development efforts have been planned. The area lies partially in the Pune and Baramati  Constituencies. An introduction of the metro-line will kindle the development of this area.
