The Issue
Have you ever visited MSEB / MahaVitaran office, is your issue was resolved at first time?
This is the scenario - Our electricity bill has increased almost double - triple since last few months. I never really noticed it & I pay it online. But I realized this month -
Issue I faced - On bill, Previous & current month's reading are same, but total units showing are - 245, and I am being charged Rs. 2100 for the same. Also meter's photo is was not available on the bill. Check bill.
I visited office at 10:30am, and not surprisingly but just like any other government office no one was there. The chairs were empty. Check office photo & photo 2. The officers signed on entry registers & went somewhere. There were around 15-20 people with almost the same issue. You can go to any Electricity Board office, you will see the same scenario, as I have seen the same in almost in every office since my childhood.
Finally I called on numbers mentioned on the wall (recording available), the person on call said - "Who gave you this number, Come to office, we will check your issue."
Then I said - "I am already at office, but no one is here, now the time is 10:30am but no one is here." her reply was - "I am outside for my personal work. I'll reach to office after 10-15 minutes. ".
I wait there till 11:30am, until the officials came. They simple told that - The issue will not get resolved this month. I'll have to pay this bill otherwise they will cut my electricity supply. All they did is forwarded me from person A - B & B - C. After doing it for half an hour, they ask me to visit office A - B, and office B - C & again office C - A.
Action I took & resolution - I had to post this issue on Twitter because of this inconvenience & fortunately I received a early reply from MSEB & they took a complaint. Twitter screenshot 1 & Twitter screenshot 2 & Twitter screenshot 3
Problem & changes I desire in system -
- Not every ordinary person can go to Tweeter for the resolution.
- Why not all the facilities are available at the same office than asking consumers to go from office A - B - C. Mostly those offices are 4-5km away from each other.
- Who will be responsible for such behavior of officials & such fraud bills, as the issue doesn't get resolved in current month & consumer has to pay the bill. Otherwise they will cut your electricity supply, and next month's bill will come with addition of previous bill. Means basically a consumer is paying the double amount. Isn't this is a fraud & a scam?
- Officials are doing personal work in the office time, I completely understand. It's not a individual's fault. This is how the entire board is working because there is so supervisor to monitor the activity.

Please support this so innocent & poor people will not face such issues. I have seen the faces & eyes of the people there, this wasn't a first time they were facing this issue.
