Safety Town- Magnolia Basketball Court

Safety Town- Magnolia Basketball Court
*Picture above is a google image from Safety Village in Stow, Ohio. This is just an example.*
We would like to turn the basketball courts that are by the fire station into a safety town for children. A safety town is a small area were children will ride their bikes or scooters and learn how to ride on a road safely. The safety town will be set up as a small village with small wooden historical buildings within our community. Traffic lights, stop signs, and other road structures will also be added. We hope this will allow for a safe place for kids to ride their bikes while also becoming educated on bike safety. Some examples will include learning to stop at a stop sign, look both ways before crossing the street, and what different signs mean, etc. We also hope to make a yearly safety event where we can include the fire department, police, and our medics.
Magnolia has been blessed with 3 parks within our village. We chose this spot because the down town park already has a nice basketball court that has recently been refinished. The park by the fire station attracts smaller children when baseball and little cardinal football/cheer are in session.
We are not trying to take away from any child. If anything, we are trying to create a new space for more children to enjoy.
Funds for this project are being raised by the Magnolia Parks Improvement Committee. With the communities help, we can do this!
Thank you.
