Bring back MATC's Nutrition Program

The Issue

Nutrition is vitally important to every area of health care.  What we put in our bodies affects every single cell and system.  Most people are uneducated about proper nutrition, even doctors who get on average 4 hrs of nutrition learning time out of all their doctoral years of higher education.  Americans certainly are clueless, false advertising, and misinformation can make it unnecessarily difficult to eat right.

I'm tired of people being sick and dying from poor nutrition. I'm tired of people suffering from nutrition related health conditions such as:

  • Diabetes
  • Heart disease
  • Liver disease
  • Kidney disease
  • Coronary artery disease
  • Asthma
  • Blindness
  • Brain disorders (Autism, ADD, ADHD, Alzheiers
Dementia, Epilepsy, chronic headaches, Atrophying of intellect (brain doesn’t get nutrients it needs))
  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • High blood pressure
  • High cholesterol
  • Autoimmune disorders (Food allergies, lupus, Chronic inflammation)
  • Osteoporosis
  • Arthritis
  • Chronic pain
  • Fibroids
  • Rectal hemorrhoids (rectal bleeding and rectal discharge)
  • Lymphodema
  • Hypothyroid
  • Celiac’s disease
  • Sleep apnea
  • Genetic mutations

And this is only a fraction of the kinds of problems improper nutrition can cause. Our bodies are literally built on what we ingest, meaning EVERY area of heath care is nutrition related.

MATC has a long list of health programs but NOT nutrition? That doesn't seem right.  I heard a nutrition program used to exist around 2005 and it's a shame that it went away for mysterious reasons.

Being a nutritionist is my life's dream and the college needs to uphold it's mission of helping it's students to achieve their academic and career goals.  Right now, it's FAILING THAT MISSION.

I want to help people not suffer anymore, please help support my dream and make nutrition education more accessible in the Madison area.
