Oakhurst, California is a beautiful town just south of Yosemite National Park. Not far off of California 41, a road travelled by thousands of park visitors from around the world every year, there are two streets next to each other with names that have blatantly racist connotations. Whatever "historical origins" the names Spook Lane and Hangtree Lane have are irrelevant. The images and feelings that they evoke have no place in any present day town. Tom Wheeler is the Madera County Supervisor whose district contains these streets.
