MacEwan Road Dog Park

The Issue

After 20 years of walking our dogs on MacEwan road, I think it's time for the dog owners of macewan road to have a safe space to legally "let the dogs out."

Many yards are tiny, and the dogs have to be driven many blocks away to stretch the legs and have their fun.  There are many apartment dogs now that just need to have some fun.

It is not legal to run them in the childrens park.  It is not legal to run them on the pipeline corridor.

Bears Paw has a huge off leash space, with a TUC limit attached to it.  It is on the north side of the Henday, and they use it daily - no issues, no locked gates. There is a well worn path and plenty of trash cans for waste.  It's a nice walk - but it's a chore to get too from MacEwan Road.

We are supposed to be embracing the 15 minute city - well - that's hard to do when the off leash parks are all more then 15 minutes+ away.  Not all dog owners drive.

There is Currently a huge Corner of TUC limit South of the Henday, North of MacEwan road, and West of 111street.  It WAS previously open for all to use, but the city blocked it off one day.  There is ALREADY goat/sheep fence installed closing the gap of the pipeline corridor - with a nice wide gate (actually 2 gates.)

All of the LRT construction is WEST of the proposed off leash park.

My petition is to have the already fenced off section of the tuc limit turned into a safely fenced area for dogs to play and people to walk, AFTER the LRT construction is all done.
