M11 Skatepark Build.

The Issue

Please take a moment to sign and share to support the construction of the M11 Skatepark in our community!

I grew up riding skateparks, having to travel far and wide as there was no local outdoor facility in our area. It would be good for the younger generation today to have a more local spot to encourage them to get into Skate, BMX or Scootering.

A local skatepark would provide a safe and dedicated space for kids and teens to practice their skills, stay active, and build community.

There is currently vast open and unused land in Phillips Park, Clayton in Manchester which could be put to some good use. In addition, there is multiple areas of land around M11 where houses have been demolished and currently are not occupied.

Here are the facts:

  • Skateparks are proven to reduce youth crime rates by offering constructive activities (source: Tony Hawk Foundation).
  • They promote physical fitness and mental well-being among young people.
  • Building a skatepark in our local park, we can foster an inclusive environment that supports healthy lifestyles.
  • Year on year, action sports are getting bigger and bigger due to it's ever growing popularity!

I know this will not happen overnight and is certainly going to take time and a lot of money. After doing some research I've found that the costs of building a public skatepark can range from around £112,500 all the way up to £300,000 so we have a long road ahead, however if we come together as a community,  I believe we have the power and influence to get this done!
