We have been quiet on our updates however we just like everyone to know we are still fighting to get access to the Enhertu drug free of charge through the NHS for all Lung cancer sufferers who may benefit from the treatment.We are now in the process of submitting a Parliamentary petition through our MP.

Unfortunately at the moment we are having another fight with the QE hospital where Elaine is being treated.We have found out that the Enhertu drug that we are currently paying £9,040 per treatment for is £3,000 cheaper per treatment at a hospital 8 miles away under the same NHS trust!  When we questioned this we have been told ‘we will investigate and get back to you’ weeks have passed and we have received no news.Elaine had her third treatment less than 48 hours ago and at 10am this morning was rung by a member of the finance team chasing payment of £9,040.  Elaine explained that we are waiting to hear the outcome of the investigation as we did not want to pay an additional £3,000 per treatment if this was incorrect.  We were told in no uncertain terms that unless we paid immediately then there would be no further treatment.  For clarity, we didn’t say we would not be paying we merely stated that we needed to be sure that the amount we were being charged was the correct amount as it seems wrong that two hospitals in the same trust were allowed to charge different amounts for the same drug so understandably the logical thing would be to wait for the outcome.It seems the QE would prefer to hold their patients to ransom.
