Hi all
Here’s what’s been happening over the last few weeks.Elaine has now had 3 cycles of the Enhertu, her 4th cycle is tomorrow. We are pleased to say the results from her scans are positive. She has been told the tumour has shrunk and the treatment is working.
We are still fighting to have the Enhertu drug accessible for all NSCLC patients through the NHS.Unfortunately we are still hitting brick walls and the people who can make this happen are constantly quoting policies, and not interested in putting this right.
We know that at the moment the Enhertu drug is in the scoping phase at NICE.They have all the data from studies and trials of the drug so there’s no reason why we believe the drug can’t be fast tracked for use in the NHS.
we are hoping that they will soon get this drug licensed so all lung cancer patients who have the HER2 mutation have the chance to be offered this treatment.
As for the pharmaceutical companies who produce this drug (Daiichi Sankyo,AstraZeneca)they have made it quite clear they are not the least interested in giving a cancer patient a chance live unless they pay.
Now we know the treatment is working Elaine asked her Oncologist what will happen when we have no more money to pay he said they will stop treating her with the drug.
This we found unbelievable and were gobsmacked.
We have now paid £34,500 to date which would not have been possible without the generosity of all the kind people who have donated to our gofundme page.
THANKYOU so much.
Regarding the process on the parliamentary petition we are now looking at getting as many signatures as possible to give it more clout. We are thinking of ways that our supporters can help us with this.We will keep you updated.
Thank you all for your support.
Chris & Elaine
