We are saddened and angered to share that, due to the actions of Gwent Police, our research into Pont-y-Pandy Woodlands has been forced to a complete halt. Collaborating groups have now stepped back some possibly indefinitely, until this matter is resolved. This disruption has already cost us a unique opportunity: during the recent drought, the most severe in over 50 years, we were unable to gather crucial data from the river floor. That chance will not come again, and with it, ten years of work have suffered a devastating blow. As a community and as lead researcher, we cannot ignore this interference. While we will refrain from sharing details of the case at this stage, we hold Gwent Police accountable for this major disruption to our work and this petition. We remain determined. In the future, we will pursue accountability and damages, but for now, our priority is to protect the future of ecological research and the rewilding of Pont-y-Pandy. Thank you for standing with us. Your voices keep this mission alive, even in the face of obstacles. Together we will continue to fight for nature, for truth, and for the well-being of our community.
