We the people demand that Kiernan Majerus-Collins resign in his role as a LPS School Committee Member. Mr. Collins did not grow up in Lewiston, attend Lewiston Public Schools nor does he have any children in this school district. Mr. Collins is the leader of a political party in Lewiston and it’s been clear since he started his un-contested campaign that his only motivation is political. Mr. Collins does not have the best interest of our children in mind. He ran on a promise of reducing carbon emissions in LPS. � He recently submitted a proposal to eliminate the DARE program as well as an SRO position in our elementary schools. He’s made it quite clear that his overall intent is to eventually eliminate ALL SROs from our schools completely. This is 100% politically motivated and if that is his priority, he has no place on our school committee. Last year, before Mr. Collins was a committee member, our school committee celebrated SROs adding another one to the budget due to the overall success of the program and the importance of what they bring to our schools. It seems unethical for Mr. Collins to use his seat to push his personal, political agenda. We’ve seen enough of his antics to know he doesn’t belong in charge of our school budget and most importantly, our children.
