CALIFORNIA ALLOWS CNAS TO CHALLENGE STATE BOARDS TO BECOME LPNS, with only 4 years experience.  AZ LPNS who are currently practinging nursing are training and teaching student nurses to get their RN licensure. LPNs with 7 to 10 years of experience should be allowed to challenge AZ state board of Nursing and obtain their RN licensure, if the following have been meet in their years of ongoing working practice,

( Of course as an LPN you are not allowed to assess a patient you can only evaluate, obtain critical data, interview patient and family, then pass that information on to the RN. Who intern calls the Physician with the data you obtained and recieves orders which you as the LPN  carry out)

LPNs with the endorsement of their current employer and letters of recommendation from two superiors. Educational  requirements can  and should be met via CEUs rather than traditional schools, the current nursing shortage in this country demands change.

We as Experienced LPNs need to be the ones to stand up and make the board aware of just how valuable we are to the work force in the medical field. 

LPNS are just as educated and have more practical experience than most RN new grads. We are needed to stand up and challenge the AZ State Board of Nursing to allow us the right to staff our hospitals with OUR experience and knowledge allowing LPNs to challenge the RN EXAM.
