Electric cars are very expensive in Australia. This is because of 2 main reasons. These reasons are import fees, and the luxury car tax that Australia puts on electric cars. This is very bad because electric cars are way better for the environment than petrol cars, yet they cost SO much to own! The import fees can't be stopped, but if Australia starts manufacturing more electric cars, there will be no importing, meaning no import fees. The Australian government is in control of the luxury car tax though. It is not needed to be put on electric cars, and it adds an additional 33% to the price of the car.
