The Issue

CALL TO ACTION! !  This is not about politics — it is about honoring a lifetime of national service. Reverend Jesse Jackson helped shape modern America, and recognition should not be postponed any longer. While we are deeply appreciative of the six states that have planned observances we respectfully request immediate Executive action to lower the flags nationwide in his honor. Add your name and pass this along quickly so this tribute reflects the will of all people!

Jesse Jackson has been a household name since 1963.  . As I transitioned from adolescence to manhood, Jesse Jackson, too, was evolving—from a civil rights icon to a beloved public servant while continuing to make a monumental difference in the world. His life's work left an indelible mark on American civil rights, labor rights for Farm Workers and safety legislation for Coal Miners.  His Rainbow Coalition was a beacon of hope and inspiration that stretched from the fields of Antelope Valley to the hills of Appalachia. He resonated with all Americans who sought justice, equality, and the courage to make change.

Jesse Jackson's contributions to civil rights, public life, and national leadership in the United States extend over decades. His tireless efforts in advocating for equality and justice have fundamentally shaped American history and society. From marching alongside Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. during the Civil Rights Movement to his eloquent speeches that rallied for social justice, Jesse Jackson's legacy is one of resilience, perseverance, and unwavering commitment to bettering the lives of those in marginalized communities.

In recognition of his invaluable contributions, it's imperative that we honor Jesse Jackson at the highest level. I respectfully request that the flags of the United States be lowered to half-staff. This gesture would serve as a national acknowledgment of his profound impact and the sacrifices he made in the name of equality and justice for all. Recognizing this unique opportunity to unite the nation in commemoration of Jesse Jackson's lifelong dedication to civil rights, let us collectively pay homage to his enduring legacy.

Jesse Jackson's work transcended racial, economic, and social barriers, fostering a more equitable society and setting a roadmap for future generations. By lowering the flags to half-staff, we not only honor his memory but continue his mission of striving toward a more just and inclusive America. We also honor his family for their loss. America owes him that.

I urge each of you to sign this petition to ensure national recognition of Jesse Jackson’s invaluable contributions. Let this tribute become a powerful reminder of the positive changes he initiated and a motivation for all of us to continue his work. Let's honor a great leader and visionary who transformed the nation through his unrelenting fight for civil rights.
