Lower the Punitively High Gas and Electric Rates Charged by Central Hudson

The Issue

My story is not an isolated case. Many of us are struggling to cope with the exorbitantly high gas and electric bills levied by Central Hudson. Like many others, we have formed a group to fight this seemingly unjust arrangement. It is our belief that consumers should not be subject to such inordinately high costs for basic utilities like gas and electricity.

The NYC public service commission reports that the average price of electricity in New York is 17.62 cents per kilowatt-hour. However, customers of Central Hudson are charged at a much higher rate which leads to a significant increment in their bills (source: NYC public service commission). For many among us, these rates have begun to represent serious financial stress, contributing to a decreased standard of living as we work tirelessly to keep the lights on.

It is incumbent upon Central Hudson to maintain a balance in its pricing structure that allows it to operate profitably while also considering the abilities of its customers to meet these costs. We believe that this balance has been disturbed to our disadvantage. As caring consumers, we deserve a fair utility charge. We are calling on relevant authorities, including the financial regulation agencies and the government to review these pricing practices.

Join us as we challenge Central Hudson to lower the gas and electric rates to manageable levels reflective of average national costs. Sign this petition, and together we can illuminate this issue and bring about a fair change.
