The Issue

We, the players, fans, and supporters of fair game pricing, are calling on Redistricter, LLC to lower the price of Subway Builder.

Subway Builder is a good game. Nobody signing this petition is denying that. It is creative, interesting, and clearly made with care. But being a good game does not automatically justify an extortionate price tag. At $30 currently, and with the Steam version set to cost $40, Subway Builder is being priced in a way that does not match the actual scale, polish, production value, or overall experience being offered.

A $40 price point places Subway Builder in the same general territory as major AAA games and highly developed simulator titles with massive teams, years of content, huge budgets, cinematic presentation, extensive replay systems, large-scale worlds, and far broader player experiences. Subway Builder may be enjoyable, but it is not delivering the same level of content, technical depth, polish, or production value as those games. Pricing it as though it does is not fair to the players.

This is the core issue: games should be priced according to their actual quality, scale, and value and not just simply according to what developers think the market might tolerate.

There are other simulator and management games available for significantly lower prices that offer equal or better value, deeper systems, broader content, larger communities, stronger replayability, and more complete experiences. When games of similar or better quality can be bought for less, it becomes impossible to ignore how overpriced Subway Builder really is.

This also raises a bigger issue in gaming: class disparity. In 2026, developers and publishers need to understand that not every fan has disposable income. Many players are students, working-class people, low-income workers, people outside the United States, or fans living in countries where $30 or $40 is not a casual purchase. A game can have a passionate community while still pricing out the very people who helped build that community.

Redistricter, LLC should be mindful of low-income fans who want to support Subway Builder but are being pushed away by a price that feels excessive. Accessibility is not just about controls, graphics settings, or performance. It is also about affordability.

If this industry keeps normalising inflated prices for games that do not justify them, it will create a backlash. Players will begin demanding stronger consumer protections, organised boycotts, and eventually even movements for price controls in gaming. Nobody should want that. Heavy-handed price controls could discourage development, hurt smaller creators, and reduce creative risk-taking. But overpriced games are exactly what fuel those movements.

The solution is simple: price games fairly before players are forced to organise against unfair pricing.

Gamers should not keep rewarding exorbitant prices. If we keep paying whatever price is placed in front of us, developers and publishers will keep pushing prices higher. But if players refuse to pay, the message becomes clear: we support good games, but we will not support inflated pricing.

We are asking Redistricter, LLC to lower the price of Subway Builder to a level that reflects the game’s actual value, quality, and scope. We are not attacking the developers. We are not saying the game is bad. We are saying that a good game can still be overpriced — and this one is.

Lower the price. Respect the fans. Make Subway Builder affordable for the community that wants to support it.
