Lower the Learner's License Age to 16 with Extended Learning Period in RSA

The Issue

Our current driving regulations require an individual to be 17 years old before they can begin their six-month learning period for driving. This petition seeks to lower this age to 16, thereby giving our teenagers an extra year of supervised driving experience before taking their test. Increased driving practice has been shown to improve skills and reduce accidents among new drivers (Source: Road Safety Authority, RSA). Reassessing the learning period could result in safer, more experienced drivers, and it could accord our youth the chance to acquire and refine their driving skills over a more extended period. Implementing this change is a positive step towards promoting road safety. Please sign this petition and support our cause for early and safe driving education.

However those already 17+ will remain taking the standard 6 months of lessons and practice before testing.
