Lower the Age Limit for Gym Access from 16 to 14 or 15
Lower the Age Limit for Gym Access from 16 to 14 or 15
The Issue
I am a young adult living in Bedford, UK, who is passionate about fitness and health. I have come to realize that many of us who are educated and determined on how to use gym equipment safely are restricted due to an age limit. It's frustrating for those of us under the age of 16 who want to engage in regular physical activity at a gym but can't due to this restriction.
The current age limit is set at 16 years old, which excludes many young adults like myself who have learned how to use gym equipment properly through school or secondary resources such as bodybuilders sharing their research or fitness books. This knowledge allows us not only to exercise safely but also optimally.
Accordingly, it's important that we consider lowering the minimum age requirement for gyms from 16 years old down to either 14 or 15 years old. This change would enable more young people in Bedford and across the UK access gyms earlier, promoting healthier lifestyles from a younger age.
Research shows that regular physical activity can help improve mental health and mood among teenagers (source: NHS). By lowering the minimum age requirement for gym access, we could potentially help more teens reap these benefits.
Let's stand together and advocate for this change. By signing this petition, you support lowering the minimum age requirement for gym access from 16 down to either 14 or 15 years old - enabling more young people like me in Bedford and across the UK lead healthier lives earlier on.
