As always I would to thank each and everyone of you for signing supporting to petition to lower the bowel cancer screening age to include younger adults. It means so much to us as a family, to know we have so many supporters out there. This journey has only just begun and I am hoping we can achieve our objective to Lower the bowel cancer screening age. Hopefully before the end of this decade we can convince the health secretary, NHS England and devolved health authorities to change the current policy on screening 59 and overs. Like many are aware, it is incredibly difficult to get our voice heard and we just need to keep the conversation going. Please continue to share and to highlight our campaign objectives. Let’s bring change. Sadly, Rob is no longer with us, but I hate the thought that he was prevented from being screened for being too young. Let’s nip this in the bud and change perceptions. Bowel cancer doesn’t just affect older people, it can affect younger adults too.  There are thousands of adults out there walking around unaware they may be carrying a genetic gene called  Lynch syndrome, often referred to as hereditary nonpolyposis colorectal cancer.

Unfortunately like many families we lived oblivious and unaware of Lynch syndrome run in our family. Not everyone knows their family history and yet Rob slipped through the screening net like thousands out there. This led to him being give a death sentence of bowel cancer untreated and undetected for far too long to make treatment possible. That’s why its incredibly important to extend screening to more age groups. Thank you and please keep sharing.   (Photo of  Happy Rob with one of the members of the searches taken in 2014 at The Embassy Theatre, Skegness)
