On Friday 22nd March 2024, I visited our local Skegness and Boston MP Matt Warman to discuss the campaigns aims to lower the current bowel cancer screening age. I expressed my desire to see the 40’s and over added to the bowel cancer screening list. I discussed Rob and the life he had before he was diagnosed and the missed opportunities by his GP. The importance of early screening and the profound impact losing Rob has had on my family and I. Matt has said he will write to the health secretary and see what they can do. Obviously he can’t make any promises, but will see what will come from this. My parents, nephew and Sister are all constituents of the Health secretary Victoria Alkins and have writing letters to her. Hopefully we can make a difference, by highlighting the unfairness of screening not being offered to the 40’s and over.
Thank you to each and everyone of you for signing, sharing and getting right behind our petition to lower the bowel cancer screening age. Please keep sharing and if you can write to your local MP and highlight the work our campaign is doing. It’s the power of people that bring change for the better.
