The Issue

We, the undersigned students of Arizona College of Nursing – Greenville, SC, are asking the college to lower the required cumulative exam average from 77% to 70%.

Many students in this program live with test anxiety, ADHD, dyslexia, and other learning disabilities. A learning disability does not reflect a student’s intelligence or work ethic — many respected professionals across the country manage these same challenges every day. A required average of 77% places significant added stress on these students and can discourage capable, dedicated future nurses from continuing in the program.

We are grateful the college recently lowered the required score on the dosage and calculations exam from 100% to 90%, recognizing the added pressure that standard placed on students. We’re asking the college to show that same understanding here.

We believe this change would support student retention, reduce unnecessary stress, and help more qualified, hardworking students complete the program and go on to serve as skilled nurses.
