Lower Speeds on Parsons Circle and Old Cape Charles Road to 25 MPH for Golf Cart Travel!

Lower Speeds on Parsons Circle and Old Cape Charles Road to 25 MPH for Golf Cart Travel!
The Issue
This Petition is asking for support from the Northampton County Board of Commissioners to request a Speed Study to be performed by the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) on a two-mile stretch of road in Cape Charles, from the Northampton County YMCA on Parsons Circle, across Stone Road to Old Cape Charles Road (Route 641), to Cassatt Parkway (Route 642), to the entrance of the Bay Creek Community.
The Petitioners are looking to lower the speed limit from 35 MPH to 25 MPH on this route to allow for golf cart travel from the Northampton YMCA, and the Tower Hill Estates and King's Creek Landing communities into Historic Cape Charles, which has been a golf cart-friendly community for many years.
This change would encourage golf cart travel from these neighborhoods to surrounding businesses like the Northampton YMCA, while providing additional resources for the County of Northampton through yearly Registration Fees and Property Taxes. Additionally, having a legal means into town would help to deter citizens from driving their golf carts illegally on the old train tracks leading into Cape Charles or on Stone Road.
This small change would benefit the lives and safety of hundreds of citizens in Northampton County. The Petitioners encourage you to act now!
