Lower Monthly HOA Fees for Leisure World Senior Community

Lower Monthly HOA Fees for Leisure World Senior Community
The Issue
My mom's words regarding the situation who is personally a resident herself.
I have been a resident of the Leisure World senior community for the past 12 years. This community has been a haven for me and many like me, providing a peaceful and affordable place during our twilight years. Unfortunately, this tranquility has been disrupted by the recent, persistent rise in the homeowners association (HOA) fees.
Many of us here live on fixed incomes, leaning on Social Security and modest retirement funds to make ends meet. With these marked increases in HOA fees, their burden is becoming unbearable for us. It has reached a point that some residents have no choice but to leave their homes—homes where we intended to spend our golden years peacefully.
The HOA justifies these fee hikes as necessary for maintenance and improvements. While we recognize the importance of maintaining our community, the lack of transparency and the frequency of these increases is concerning. There's a difference between responsible upkeep and financial strain placed upon residents who are, for the most part, senior citizens on fixed incomes.
It's alarming to note that across the U.S., the Consumer Price Index (CPI) showed a 2.6% increase over the last 12 months, but our HOA fees have gone up much more significantly. It's evident how disproportionate these hikes are.
This petition, therefore, is an urgent plea to reconsider the increased HOA fees at Leisure World. We ask for transparency in the financial handling of the HOA, and more importantly, for compassion towards the senior residents. We are not opposing maintenance and improvement but we urge the necessity of a balanced approach considering the financial capabilities of the residents.
Stand with us in our cause, and help counter the unnecessary financial stress being thrust upon the Leisure World community. We hope to preserve the peace and affordability of our home – our Leisure World. Please sign this petition.
