As residents of The Crossings community in Miami, Florida 33186, we are deeply concerned about the continuous and exorbitant increases in our Homeowners Association (HOA) payments. It is with great urgency that we come together to address this issue and seek a fair resolution.

For many of us, living in a community governed by an HOA has its benefits. We appreciate the maintenance of common areas. However, recent months/ years, some of the amenities are not even open for our use. The gym is rundown, landscapers drink beer under trees, security drives around on their phones! Updates are slow to be made such as the pools being closed and excuses come after excuse. We pay for things that are not being utilized such as "pest control" when there are mice and toads everywhere as we have seen in (courtyards). 

We have seen non-stop major increases in our HOA payments that are becoming increasingly unaffordable for many residents. We understand the cost of insurance has risen as well as the cost of living. We believe there must be room for adjustments to make this affordable for ALL residents. 

The purpose of this petition is to urge the relevant authorities within & outside our HOA to reevaluate and lower these excessive fees. Our goal is not to undermine the services but rather find a more reasonable balance between affordability and what is fare as well as to maintain a well-functioning community.

Personal Story:
As a resident myself, I have witnessed firsthand how these skyrocketing HOA payments have impacted my family's financial stability. Over the past few months alone, our monthly dues have increased significantly without any detailed clear justification or explanation from the association.

I understand that managing an HOA involves various expenses such as landscaping costs, security measures, administrative fees among others. However, it is essential for accountability to be upheld when determining these charges so that they align with actual costs incurred by the association and so they are affordable for ALL living within the community.

Relevant Facts:
1. According to industry standards outlined by Community Associations Institute (CAI), average annual dues should begin from $2000 per household. With our current increase of starting October-$517, this already exceeds the average range for annual dues. 

2. The median household income in Miami-Dade County is below national averages; therefore high HOA payments can disproportionately burden residents making it nearly impossible to pay each month. 

Petition Request:
We, the undersigned residents of The Crossings community, kindly request that the HOA Board and management take IMMEDIATE action to lower our HOA payments. We understand that maintaining a well-functioning community requires financial resources; however, we believe there is MAJOR room for improvement in terms of cost management, adjustments and transparency.

By signing this petition, we express our desire for a fair assessment of expenses and for them to be lowered. An open dialogue between the association and its members including ALL residents not just HOA counsel. many residents can not attend the meetings as many of us have busy lives, children, jobs. Etc. We believe it's important to find alternative ways to express all details of meetings, changing fees, and or adding on any additional expenses. We believe that by working together, we can find solutions that ensure both the financial stability of our community and affordability for ALL residents.
