I am a resident of Taguig, Metro Manila, Philippines and like many others here, I am struggling. The value of our money is decreasing and the cost of food is so high that it's becoming difficult to afford even basic necessities. This situation is causing immense suffering for the majority of us.

According to data from the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), inflation rates have been steadily increasing over the past few years. In 2020 alone, inflation rose by 2.6%, which has had a significant impact on food prices (PSA). This rise in prices coupled with stagnant wages has made it increasingly difficult for families to put food on their tables.

The government needs to intervene and take immediate action to regulate these soaring food prices. We need policies that will ensure affordable access to basic commodities for everyone regardless of their income level.

We urge our local government officials in Taguig City and national leaders in the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) as well as Department of Agriculture (DA) to address this pressing issue urgently.
