Low income families need funding because of being more prone to obesity

The Issue

As a young female, I have observed that individuals who reside in low-income areas are more susceptible to obesity than those who live in higher-income neighborhoods. People of all ages, genders and races are affected by this problem due to various factors such as genetics, lifestyle habits and environmental factors that play a huge role.  Being low income is a huge factor because limited access to healthier foods compared to unhealthy foods and deficiency of secure places to get active by exercising.

The National Institutes of Health provides data on the percentage of individuals living in low-income households who are diagnosed with obesity. Healthline provides data on the percentage of individuals diagnosed with obesity, regardless of income. The National Center of Statistics shows that generally, woman with higher income are less likely to become obese compared to woman with lower incomes. If obesity rates remain the same, it could lead to an increase in health problems such as diabetes chronic illnesses and heart disease. Otherwise if things change more healthier lifestyles will be encouraged, and individuals who are low-income will receive more support.

Now is the time to take action by funding low-income neighborhoods so that countless people  are not being diagnosed with obesity also so we can help prevent health problems from occurring in human beings, since steadily rates of obesity have been increasing in the recent and current years. Obesity can also have a negative impact on mental health that leas to more social issues like anxiety, depression included. The time is to act now so that physical and mental health issues are improved.
