RE: DEMAND FOR APOLOGY FROM THE UNIVERSITY OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA
May 25, 2018
I am a Chinese-American attorney out of San Gabriel, California, writing this letter to raise awareness and to demand a formal apology from the University of Southern California. I am demanding an apology for their failure to protect its students most of which are international students from China from sexual abuse, by their very own, USC Gynecologist Dr. George Tyndall. It is claimed that Dr. Tyndall has provided care to “thousands and thousands of Trojan women” during his time at USC. It is further claimed that USC had received repeated complaints from students and co-workers concerning Dr. Tyndall’s unusual behavior. However, those complaints were of no resolve.
As such, on behalf of all victims, USC students, faculty members, Chinese or not, I am demanding a formal apology.
A federal class action lawsuit entitled Chi v. University of Southern California, et al. alleges that many of the women targeted by Dr. Tyndall were of Chinese or of other Asian Descent. It provides that, “Tyndall had a map of China and encouraged women to point out their home province.” Furthermore, “He kept a bamboo plant, the traditional Chinese symbol of longevity and vitality, on a shelf above his desk” which evidently was not the reason why they paid $72,200 in tuition.
As someone who has lectured at USC to Chinese international students about protecting their legal rights, I feel strongly about upholding the reputation of USC as well as the safety of Chinese International students.
I am committed to the pursuit of justice. This is not the first time I have spoken on these racially sensitive matters. Last year, I petitioned the U.S. Attorney’s office to charge Brendt Christensen with first degree murder for the death of Yingying Zhang, a visiting student at the University of Illinois. Thereafter, the U.S. Attorneys’ office filed a notice that it would seek the death penalty. Furthermore, in 2014, I along with Congressman Ted Lieu demanded that FOX News terminate Bob Beckel for making derogatory remarks about Chinese people.
Your attention and voices are invaluable to this petition. Help us and help you in demanding a formal apology from the University of Southern California. Thank you for your interest and support.
