This past week, Ms. Folkes made the decision to eliminate the Art Program from Hardy Oak Elementary School in the NEISD family.  The PTA of Hardy Oak has worked for the past 6 years to ensure Art remained a valuable part of the Hardy Oak curriculum.  The PTA has funded the Art program through Art Carte and, as of last year, a Para-Professional hired to teach Art and Computers.  We would like to have Art remain in the Specials Rotation and not simply added into the regular classroom.

Art is an important part of childhood development and is part of the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills requirement.  Schools such as Vinyard Ranch and Las Lomas have found a way to keep Art in the curriculum and we, the parents of Hardy Oak desire equal access for our students.
