Testimony for Sybil Lee to bring about a just and fair resolution after 20 years

The Issue

A long-serving pillar of our community and our well-respected Catechetical Co-ordinator, Sybil Lee, serving in the Parish of Our Lady of Mount Carmel and Saint George RC Parish, Enfield, Diocese of Westminster, has been unfairly and unjustly asked to stand down as Catechetical Coordinator.  I know I represent all of us as parents and families who have worshipped in this Parish in presenting this petition to give testimony of our support for Sybil and to appeal for a just and fair resolution.

Sybil has been a pillar of our church community for over twenty years.  Not only have I formed a special bond with her as a friend, but also as a parent - all three of my children have received the Sacraments of First Holy Communion and Confirmation under her guidance, experience and whole-hearted support.  This was particularly heartfelt as my middle son, diagnosed with severe autism and global learning difficulties, was only able to complete preparation for both programs with Sybil's support, expertise, patience, love and understanding.

I know I am just one among many parents who are shocked, heart-broken and dismayed at what has happened.  Let us combine together as a community and show our support for Sybil as we give testimony of our experience in whatever way she has touched our lives and those of our families.  The church community will simply not be the same without her patient care and loving guidance.  She listened to us and responded to our needs.  We are so grateful that she lives her strong faith through service in her vocation of catechist and wishes to continue in the particular vocation to which God has called her and to which she has given over twenty years of the best years of her life.

I encourage you to express your thoughts and memories so that justice is seen to be done.
