Public Consultation on Local bus service

The Issue

Centrebus have taken the decision to withdraw the local 8 bus service which acts as a lifeline for the many residents of Little Stanion, Stanion and Brigestock without personal transport and serves as a connection to the populous areas of Kettering and Corby.

The decision to withdraw such an important bus service from a community of 1000+ homes is simply detrimental. The area of Little Stanion is unacceptably lacklustre in relation to local amenities with the nearest supermarket situated in Corby and Doctors and Dental surgery’s also located in the surrounding areas.

Without a full public consultation, this decision should not be made final. This decision has the unfortunate consequence of isolating the many residents without other means of transport and ultimately as a result lead to these residents no longer being able to live within the community and travel for work and leisure purposes to the surrounding areas.

A full breakdown of the reasons why such a decision has been taken needs to be clearly outlined and an in-depth analyst into the repercussions of this decision with public input should be conducted.

The reason a public consultation should be called is for local residents to express their concerns, express the consequences and for the governing body and local authority to feel the gravity of the situation and in turn work with residents to achieve a viable solution.
