Local Homeowners Requesting Transparency From New Property Ownership

Local Homeowners Requesting Transparency From New Property Ownership
The Issue
As tenants in the newly purchased Medallion Community, we have sincere concerns regarding our current property value and the sale of personal property moving forward. We have enjoyed a very nice, affordable community for families and college students for many years, and expected a price increase upon the sale of our community; however, MORE THAN DOUBLING rent without offering any new amenities for new applicants has drastically reduced the sale value on our homesteads. This change came without any transparency whatsoever, and has stolen a piece of our livelihood. Aggieland has a simple code of honor: "do not lie, cheat, or steal", and we are sincerely concerned that Medallion Communities does not respect our tried and true ways of establishing trust and consistency with our neighbors.
Ayla Kiepert (a resident on Rolling Ridge)'s story:
"My story begins during my first year as a student at TAMU:
In 2012, my parents purchased a home for me on Sunset Way. It was a wonderful investment that held value throughout my college career, and I had a fantastic roommate that is still a friend today! Sold that home in 2018 to a nice family, and it still remains a beautifully maintained homestead in the community.
I moved in with my father in Leon County in 2020 after a motorcycle accident took him through the journey of an amputation and remodeling to conform his home to a wheelchair accessible residence. Thankfully, he has regained independence!
In 2022 when my Mimi (grandmother) started needing more attention in Tomball and my photography business was shifting toward CS, I knew where to go for a comfortable, safe community to welcome me home after the long trips, wedding days, and stock horse shows. My application was accepted immediately, and my second fantastic roommate and I had a great place on Rolling Ridge until September 2024! That month, my Mimi was moved to receive a higher degree of care, my business took a huge shift, and some personal things went down.
In early December, I notified Gabrielle that I would like to have my home placed on the “for sale” list in the office (both homes my family has purchased were found from contacting the front office for that list). Everything was perfect.
On December 20th, I received the email that our park had changed ownership. I started trying to make contact to confirm that my home was still listed for sale because I was about to put a sign in the window. It took me multiple tries to get through, as they had been forwarding calls to an answering service over the holidays. Finally, on January 3, I was able to actually make contact with the office and confirm that the home was listed for sale, however, they let me know that they no longer keep a list of for sale homes for potential buyers in the office.
Early January 13, I received a great offer from an incoming Aggie family! I, as expected of my own contract, had the buyer contact the office, which was a bit of a process considering that applicants cannot just register on the website - they have to actually request an email for an application. The buyer was informed that lot rent will be MORE THAN DOUBLED for all new tenants. Of course, I disclosed my current lot rent price to the potential buyer, considering that that is one of the very special parts of making our community an affordable place for college students and families, with the information that the park had just sold and gave them access to the letter I received from Medallion Communities. This new news has completely changed the offer, understandably.
This ordeal has made me sincerely consider the morality of our new ownership. I was never notified of any price increases, even after alerting them multiple times that I was putting my home up for sale. I do understand an increase but MORE THAN DOUBLING makes me believe they are considering making a dollar over providing a great living experience for patrons in their community! We were not informed of ANY additional amenities that will be offered to new applicants, nor does the online account that I was asked to create suggest any sort of price increase. "
