Plans have been approved by Tower Hamlets council to redevelop Brick Lane, the cultural hotspot for many Bengali’s and other ethnicities. Tower Hamlets has experienced the most gentrification out of every other London borough.

Brick Lane has been an area which housed many religions and culture from escaping Jews to the Irish and now the Bangladeshi community.

The redevelopment would ensure that a shopping mall is built on the site of the Truman Brewery with offices on top. This would drive out many local businesses leaving Brick Lane no longer a cultural hotspot.

We want to protect the area and stop the gentrification of Brick Lane in order to protect the local businesses and raise awareness for this cause. And you can help by signing this petition.
