St Mary’s and St Clement’s Churchyards Grass Cutting Campaign

St Mary’s and St Clement’s Churchyards Grass Cutting Campaign
The Issue
Many churches throughout the country are making the decision to let the grass grow in and around their churchyards stating that they are “ letting nature take it’s course” when really it is just a cost saving exercise which was recently confirmed when we attended a local council meeting . Our personal interests are two churchyards which are St Mary’s at Winthorpe, Skegness, and St Clement’s, Skegness.
We are just two residents of many within the Skegness area who like to visit the resting places of our loved ones on a regular basis. However, when you visit the churchyards now they receive no maintenance and the grass is disrespectfully overgrown. This should not and cannot be allowed to happen without the voices of the local residents being heard. At some point the grass will be so severely overgrown that I can see our elderly generation being at risk of slips, trips and falls which is also major concern for us.
All of us at some point of our lives will have loved and lost some very special people and I hope you agree that their final resting place should be well kept and respected.
If you share our thoughts please sign the petition and make a difference.
