Our "little petition that could" is more than a year old now. Hard to believe! We're closing in on 190,000 signatures ... with 200,000 just around the corner. Time for a big PUSH, everyone!
Sobey's has already eliminated the use of plastic bags... as have Safeway, Foodland, FreshCo and IGA, which are all owned by Sobey's.
A year has gone by since this petition started, and we're still waiting to hear what the Loblaw plastics strategy is for 2020. The silence is deafening. Crickets.
Time's up, Loblaw. We will not buy foods packaged in plastic anymore. If that means shopping at farmer's markets and neighbourhood fruit and vegetable markets, and buying directly from farms, that's what we will do. We will vote with our wallets unless change comes to the largest food retailer in Canada.
