In July 2016 Cineworld cinema in Edge Lane is due to close when their lease comes to an end. An alternative Cineworld is set to open in 2018 as part of the New Mersey Retail Park in Speke. This causes many inconveniences for the families and people who live in the surrounding areas of Old Swan, Stoneycroft, Wavertree, Childwall, etc as they will no longer have a local cinema and will have to spend money on travel to get to any other cinema in Liverpool. The extortionate prices of going to the cinemas are already high enough without having to pay for travel also. This petition aims to show just how many of us are affected by these changes and therefore have them reconsider the closure.
