Liverpool Council's $20,000 Lebanon Donation: Paid back by Councillors who voted for it.

The issue

I am a resident deeply concerned about our precious Liverpool City community grant fund. I was shocked to discover that our city councillors voted to divert $20,000 of this fund to Lebanon. Current times require us to focus on our local needs first. Liverpool has its challenges to address and needs every dollar we can spare.

The $20,000 spent on this donation could have been used for beneficial local projects instead of being sent abroad.

This act demonstrates a failure on the part of councillors to prioritize the well-being of our own community. These funds are limited and should be directly invested in areas of immediate need within the Liverpool community.

Our opposition to this decision does not come from a place of insensitivity towards Lebanon's crises but rather from a deeply rooted consideration for our local community's pressing needs. By signing this petition, you are urging the city councillors who voted on this project to reimburse the $20,000 to the community grants fund and prioritize local over international expenditure. It's time we take a stand for proper financial planning that truly serves the needs of Liverpool. Please sign this petition.
