Ban fishing in Princes Park lake between March - June.
Why this petition matters
I'm sure anyone who has visited Prince Park lake recently would agree with me that this is a particularly special time of year, the amount of young life round the lake is beautiful. However as spring/summer arrives and the weather improves, the number of anglers around the lake has increased dramatically, and with it the risk to these young lives.
Anyone local to the area will probably be aware of the damage irresponsible fishing does to the fauna of the lake, here is more information for those who do not know.

What is left unmentioned in this article is that the cygnet actually drowned due to being tangled in fishing wire.
This is not just an isolated incident, this has happened before and will happen again. Many other animals have been badly injured and killed because of fishing materials left in and around the lake.
It is impossible to fish responsibly at this time of year. A recreational activity is not worth the damage it does to our wildlife.
We can protect the wildlife of the lake and prevent any more avoidable tragedies.
