Littleton Public Schools Middle School Boys Volleyball

The Issue

Boys Volleyball has been a controversial topic amongst many students in LPS for at least the last two years. As the conversation has continued to grow in popularity, and us 8th graders don’t have much time left in middle school to make this change, we decided to make a change right away. At my school we have plenty of interest for a Boys Volleyball team, and we are hoping that this can become a reality before we have to leave. As there are four girls sports in all middle schools in our district and boys are left with three, boys don’t have equal opportunities to participate in athletics, like Title IX states they should. Having this sport in middle schools across Littleton Public Schools would not only make students happy, it could also help the high school Boys Volleyball teams. If we start creating an interest and an exposure to this sport now, it will boost the interest in this sport when we hit high school. This would strengthen the high school teams because there is a greater number of experienced players and a greater number of players that are willing to tryout for the sport. I do feel like we can make Boys Volleyball happen in Littleton Public Schools and I hope that you agree. Let's show the district how much interest we actually have in this sport by signing this petition.
