Cancel Australia Day fireworks for 2016

Cancel Australia Day fireworks for 2016
The issue
I realise the Australia Day fireworks hold a place in the heart of West Australians but instead of watching millions of dollars go up in smoke, and risking more fires, please throw your support behind the victims of our recent bushfires in Esperance, Forrestdale, Waroona, Yarloop and surrounding areas.
This is NOT an opposition to enjoying and celebrating Australia Day.
This is simply a request to avoid using fireworks and risking more fires. Enough fires have already been started this year by lightning and arson, we don't need to risk more.
No doubt the volunteer & career fire fighters, SES volunteers and DPAW staff wouldn't mind a break either.
Maybe instead of cancelling the actual fireworks, they could be postponed to when the fire danger is much lower, later in the year. That way small businesses will not lose out!!
The government can still have events for Australia Day and put on a light show instead. Again, no one is trying cancel Australia Day here!!
The government could make a more sizeable, less insulting, contribution to the victims of the bushfires - any revenue raised from parking, parking infringements, speeding tickets, traffic fines, littering fines etc can be donated to people who really need it.
It's unlikely that insurance will replace livestock or supply replacement feed. It's unlikely that insurance will be able to replace hectares of wheat crops burnt in Esperance and surrounds. The kind of wheat crops that go on to be stock feed... The circle is viscous and its government funding that is required to cover this. People have lost more than just bricks, mortar & personal belongings!
