To limit fireworks to displays only on bonfire night and new year.
Why this petition matters

Fireworks, particularly this year, are out of control. Both wildlife and pets can be seriously affected by the noise of fireworks which has previously resulted in death of animals. I understand why this petition won’t interest some but I beg people to please think of the effects that regular, uncontrolled fireworks are having on animals. My usually confident dog has to take a high dose of Diazepam to try and dampen his fear and I feel it is unfair to keep medicating him unnecessarily. It is an extremely strong medication that can damage his liver. I also know of ex service men who are affected by the noise due to their experiences fighting in wars. It is not fair for these hero’s, who fought in a war for us, to have their PTSD heightened for other people’s personal gain. Fireworks are pretty to look at, of course, but there are more cons than pros. If they were limited to public displays on bonfire night and New Year’s Eve, people can prepare their pets for what they will have to endure. As I type this, I can hear a dog yelping, crying in fear, clearly finding the noise traumatic. It is NOT fair!
