The ICSE 2024-25 batch has faced an unprecedented shift in exam patterns, with the introduction of competency-based questions. While the intent behind these changes may have been to promote critical thinking, the actual execution has caused immense stress and confusion among students.

The ICSE 2025 board exams contained an unexpectedly high number of complex and ambiguous competency-based questions, making the paper drastically different from past years. Many students, who had prepared based on previous patterns, found themselves struggling with unfamiliar question styles, leading to frustration and uncertainty about their performance.

Concerns about the difficulty and fairness of these exams have been widely discussed across student forums and social media platforms, including Reddit, where students have expressed their disappointment and concerns about the paper's structure.

We acknowledge that exams cannot be changed retroactively, but we strongly urge CISCE to consider the following:

Lenient evaluation of all subjects to ensure fairness in marking.
Awarding of grace marks where questions were too ambiguous or complex beyond reasonable expectations.
Clearer communication in the future regarding major changes in paper patterns to allow students adequate time to prepare.
We, the students of the ICSE 2025 batch, request the CISCE council to recognize the challenges we have faced and ensure fair grading practices so that no student is unfairly disadvantaged due to this sudden shift in the examination format.
