Reform of the Lincoln University (PA) Board of Trustees

Reform of the Lincoln University (PA) Board of Trustees
The Issue
Dear Lincoln University Alumni, Family and Friends,
The Officers of the Lincoln University’s Board of Trustees, including, Chairlady, Theresa Braswell, Vice Chair, Dimitrius Hutcherson, Secretary, Frances Paul and Parliamentarian, Deborah Thomas must resign or be removed immediately. Please join our petition insisting on resignation or removal. The time is NOW.
As you know, for the last six months, we have been through a tumultuous time fighting to keep the leadership of Lincoln University stable. Furthermore, we must ensure that Lincoln’s leadership is supported in their mission to move our Dear old Orange and Blue to the next level.
In light of the new legal action, the Board is REQUIRED to remain in compliance with the Sunshine Act and other laws for the next five years or be fined. However, after watching this Board violate their own bylaws, the Sunshine Act of PA and the gross misconduct provision of the PA Nonprofit Act, we cannot trust that they will follow the court’s decree. We need Board reform NOW!
The parties to the lawsuit filed by the Commonwealth of PA against Chairlady Theresa Braswell and other Board members have entered a court-enforced agreement called a Consent Decree.
WHAT IS A CONSENT DECREE? It is a formal settlement enjoining a party to litigation from continuing to engage in activities that the other party alleged broke the law. The enjoined party does not admit guilt, but if they violate the decree, the Court will immediately sanction their bad behavior.
WHAT’S NOT INCLUDED? The decree did not remove the Chairlady and the officers who acted with her from the Board, rather it left the opening for the LU community to get its own house in order or be subject to the terms of further state action.
IT IS TIME FOR US TO BE THE CHANGE THAT WE SEEK! The Lions for Change are asking you to join us in calling for the immediate resignation of the Lincoln University Board of Trustees’ Officers; Chairlady, Theresa Braswell, Vice Chair, Dimitrius Hutcherson, Secretary, Frances Paul and the Parliamentarian, Deborah Thomas. These Board members placed the integrity and credibility of our university on the line without cause. Furthermore, these board members are responsible for tarnishing the reputation of our university’s stability, and causing potential donors to overlook our university. For these reasons, we ask that you support this petition to overhaul the leadership of the board, as we can no longer entrust that they will act in the best interest of Lincoln University’s students, faculty, staff and the alumni.
Join us to:
1) Reignite our pressure on the Chairlady and ALL of her officers to RESIGN.
2) Ignite new pressure on the other Board members to demand their colleagues’ resignations or come up with a plan to REMOVE them. We desperately need a foundation for strong governance to support LU excellence.
3) If you agree with this plan, please sign this petition, and share it with others TODAY!
