We are the Lincoln High School ASB and Senior Class. This petition is for allowing the Lincoln High Class of 2020 and future graduating classes being allowed to decorate their graduation caps. Going through high school and striving to be out on the field dressed in red from head to toe with our tassel on the right side ready to move it for the one and only time to the left side is what drives us students to maintain our GPAs, do our homework, study for those tests, and be a part of clubs. We do all this to one day graduate and enter the “real world.” These are the last four years of education before every single student who steps onto that field enters a different path. Some of us go straight into the workforce. Some of us go to college. Some of us enter the military. Representing the thousands of hours we have put in to graduate and finally move on to the chapter of life that for the first time we have control of onto our caps and be proud of all we have learned and accomplished is what we want to have as part of our graduation experience. Cap decorating is a tradition that is carried on at many schools. Allowing students to decorate their caps, gives them one last creative outlet at Lincoln High.
