As an Amherst citizen who contributes with my tax dollars to the maintenance of the Clearfield Pool and Splash Pad, I am deeply concerned about the safety of our children. The open door policy that currently exists allows anyone, regardless of residency, to use these facilities. This has led to an unpredictable and potentially unsafe environment for our children. According to the American Red Cross, 90% of families with young children will be involved in a water-related incident. Therefore, this is a matter that needs immediate attention.

Controlling access, limiting the amount of people and limiting it to Amherst residents + their guests is a step forward in ensuring our children's safety. It allows for a better monitoring of conditions and establishes a community-driven setting. Our tax dollars should be directed towards fostering a safe and welcoming environment for our families. Our request is that the Amherst local government hear our plea and implement regulations that limit the access of the Clearfield Pool and Splash Pad to Amherst residents only + guests, and reducing the max capacity amount.
