To consider and adopt a proposed Resolution regarding Na Pueo Park.

To consider and adopt a proposed Resolution regarding Na Pueo Park.
The Issue
Adjacent to Na Pueo Park is a large parcel of land (the "Parcel") that was originally part of a larger parcel of land condemned by the City and County of Honolulu for use as a City park.
Residents of the neighboring community and users of the park wish for the Parcel to be used as a public park. However, the City Department of Parks and Recreation ("DPR") has advised City Councilmember Carol Fukunaga and her staff, Neighborhood Chair Wes Fong and Alewa resident Burt Lau that DPR does not intend to take the Parcel over for use as a public park, in part due to the high costs it would take to make the Parcel compliant with the Americans with Disability Act access requirements.
This petition is meant to urge the Neighborhood Board to support and adopt a Resolution to (a) urge the City agencies to reconsider their decision in light of possible budget assistance and (b) seek the support of the City Council on the wishes of the community.
