LIGTAS NA BALIK ESKWELA: The students' safety must be a top priority

Due to the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, education is one of the most affected elements of human existence. Many governments around the world have decided to temporarily close schools that have affected millions of pupils since the outbreak and threat of the pandemic. As a result of the pandemic, pupils, mainly children, have been experiencing a learning crisis. Every country is responsible for devising methods for reopening schools in a secure manner. The Philippine government's education department has issued recommendations for implementing online and modular distant learning delivery of instruction. This is to protect students from contracting the sickness. However, the president approved plans to perform a pilot implementation of limited face-to-face delivery in low-risk areas of covid-19 transmission in January 2021, however the proposal was later canceled due to the threat of the new strain of covid-19.                                                                                      Despite having one of the world's longest and harshest lockdowns, questions have been raised over whether the country is ready to open its school for face-to-face learning. School reopening for face-to-face contacts must be carefully organized in stages to protect the safety of kids, instructors, and school employees, especially after physical separation. During this pandemic, the planning and execution of school health policies must be based on accurate data provided by numerous institutions.

Finally, school health measures for restricted face-to-face interactions must be carefully prepared in accordance with national and international guidelines to guarantee that students are safe or at the very least lessen the effects of covid-19. After all, students' lives are as important to them as their education is to them. It is the obligation of every government to see that this is done.

In this respect, parents' school satisfaction during school lockdown may represent schools' ability to respond and react to swift social changes with little time to prepare.

Our government already looked for ways to make face-to-face classes safer. The Philippine government, especially the Department of Education (DepEd) devise a plan to ensure student safety when face-to-face classes are resumed.

Ligtas Balik Eskwela will ensure that everyone has access to high-quality education, and that everyone will benefit from it. We must preserve and protect our fellow students, teachers, and other staff members in these difficult times. We are currently facing a pandemic, and we must be healthy in order to fight it. We must ensure that we follow strict protocols that the government issues us, but even if we follow the rules, there is still a risk that students and teachers will become ill and end up in a bad situation.

This petition needs you for the betterment of the learners, and also the teachers. Above all, students' lives are just as important to them as their education.
